Laura Ross is a Young Adult Fantasy writer and lives in Midlothian, Texas with her husband and two boys. She is currently working on a book called "Unlikely Lights" that takes place on a chain of islands once inhabited by angels and demons.
I've been a storyteller since I can remember, but my stories didn't always come out in writing. Growing up, I was a constant day-dreamer. It was so bad that "get your head out of the clouds" was a common phrase I heard from my parents, and several times I got an "are you with us?" from my teachers.
But the truth was my mind just liked to wander (still does), and I eventually found that art, specifically photography, helped harness my wild imagination into something more productive -- a way to share stories with others. And while photography will always have a special place in my heart, I never felt I was able to accurately portray what was in my mind onto an image.
Long story short, in 2016 a vivid story popped into my head that I knew needed to be written down. So here I am almost three years later, after living and breathing all things writing, almost done documenting my life-changing day-dream.
This website is to share my writing journey and the resources I rely on along the way. This of course includes several books on the craft, but don't forget to check out my other recently read books and my to-be-read list. Stephen King said it best: “If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
